GALLICISMS IN PORTUGUESE AND ROMANIAN: A CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF THE CLOTHING LEXICON

Abstract

This contrastive study proposes an analysis of the circulation of Gallicisms in Portuguese and Romanian. In the first stage, the authors provide a state of the art of the research in the field. The analysis is based on a lexicographical corpus of sixteen lexemes from the semantic field of clothing in French and traces their borrowings in Portuguese and Romanian, identifying the first attestations in each language, as well as phonetic, morphological, and semantic adaptations.
